About Us

Skagit Valley College is making a difference throughout our community by opening the doors to higher education for everyone who seeks a better future. We have created a diverse learning environment where all are welcomed and valued. It’s a place where students of all ages, from many backgrounds and perspectives, and with various skill levels and life experiences, receive the support they need to succeed. We want each person to know they belong.

One of the many things that makes our College special is that we are deeply committed to equity as our framework for providing access, supporting achievement, and strengthening community. With this focus, our faculty and staff are meeting students where they are, and providing education, services, tools, and encouragement that build a sense of community, safety, and belonging. Touch points have been developed to assist our students every step of the way: from their initial inquiry to advising, registration, placement, first quarter experience, and graduation.

In recognition of our commitment to equity, SVC is proud to be one of 30 colleges nationwide — and just three from Washington — selected to participate in The Pathways Project led by the American Association of Community Colleges. Funded through a Gates Foundation grant, Pathways provides an opportunity for SVC to identify new strategies that reduce barriers to student success. It builds builds upon the innovative work already in place and positions SVC as a national leader in student achievement.
