Celebrating in Song: On the Air
Come be transported back in time to the 1940s with Skagit Valley Chorale, and experience a live "radio" show featuring the distinctive American music of Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. We'll cover popular hits of the era, a smattering of movie tunes, and a dash of great American classical music from the period. Delight in and laugh along with our warm and witty announcer, David Schroeder, as he leads us through skits and commercials reminiscent of this bygone era, along with clever ads for some local sponsors. Vince Fejeran's big band will recreate the Pennsylvanians' swing sounds to enhance your listening enjoyment, as we bring to life original arrangements used by Waring's singers and players. You will tap your toe, and may even want to break out in song, as you experience the warm feelings evoked by music from "The Man Who Taught America to Sing."
